I'm still scared Name: Eugene
1. What is the big issue going on in chapter 1? What did Tomie's mom say about it?
On Sunday, December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked and destroyed the United States
Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands.
It was a surprise attack.
Tomie¡¯s mom said that things would never be the same.
2. Why did the school end early?
They made the kids go to home early to make the kids listen to president¡¯s speak
with their families.
3. Why do you think the teacher did not tell Tomie what air raid is?
I think they thought that Tomie would be scared. Maybe she didn¡¯t want to frighten the kids.
4. What air raids are going around the world?
Germans started the war. The Germans dropped the bombs on London every night.
And the Japanese were doing the same thing to China.
5. Why do you think there were no cash registers in the store?
They thought that there will be not many people that use the cash registers.
6. How was Christmas for Tomie? What did he do?
They went out and looked at peoples outfits and to watch Christmas decorasions.
And also they saw movies at the theater. And then the newsreel started.
It was like a war going there. And Tomie was afraid that would be his country.
