Look for sentences that have the words and and  but.  

Andand but can put twosentences together.  

For example:  

Thecat ran to the tree.  She climbedup. ->  The cat ran to the tree andclimbed up.

Thecat was hungry.  She did not eat. -> The cat was hungry but she did noteat.
