만약 쥐에게 쿠키를 준다면... 으로 시작하여 사건이 연쇄적으로 일어납니다.
쿠키를 받은 쥐는 우유를 다음에는 빨대를...
그 다음에는 쥐가 도대체 무엇을 요구해 올지 가 궁금해 집니다.
(a cookie -> a glass of milk ->a straw ->a napkin ->a pair of nail scissors
->take a nap ->read a story -> the pictures -> paper and crayons -> pen ->
scotch tape -> a glass of milk -> cookie
착하게도 황당한 쥐의 요구를 모두 들어주던 아이는 맨 마지막에는 지쳐 쓰려져 잠이 듭니다.
재미있게 읽어 주다가 "엇! 여기서 쥐는 애들이고 이 소년은 엄마가 아닌가!"
간접적으로나마 엄마의 수고도 얘기해 줍니다
