<< 할로윈 puppet 만들기 >>
할로윈 데이를 준비하면서 귀여운 puppet 몇 가지를 만들어 보았습니다.
첫번째로 만든 것은 일회용 숟가락을 이용해서 만들어본 이쁜이 마녀입니다. 기존의 마녀들이 다 무섭게 생겨서 이 마녀는 좀 이쁘게 만들어 보았는데 어떤가요? 송이는 마음에 든다고 좋아하네요.
일회용 숟가락에 털실을 머리카락으로 붙이고 천으로 감싸고 목에는 단추를 붙였습니다.
손가락 인형으로 만들어 본 마녀에요. 마녀의 요술봉도 달아주고 반짝이 스팽글도 붙여 주었어요
그 다음으로 빠질 수 없는 것 - 바로 고스트입니다. 연기같은 고스트와 mitten 모양 고스트입니다
그리고 마녀의 단짝 친구 고양이와 잭오랜턴입니다.
송이가 가지고 노는 모습이에요...놀이감이 생겨 할로윈데이를 기다리며 지루하지 않을 것 같네요.

Halloween is on October 31. The modern celebration of Halloween is a descendent of the ancient Celtic fire festival called "Samhain" for the dead. Samhain means the feast of the dead in Pagan and Christian times, signalizing the close of harvest and the initiation of the winter season, lasting till May.
할로윈 데이는 10월 31일이다. 현대의 할로윈 축하 행사는 "Samhain"이라고 불리는 고대 켈트족이 죽은 자들을 위해 벌인 불 축제에서 유래된 것이다. "Samhain"이란 비 기독교인과 기독교인 시대에 죽은 자들을 위한 축제로 추수의 끝과 겨울철의 시작을 나타내면서 5월까지 지속되었다.
When the potato crop in Ireland failed, many of the Irish people, descendants of the Celts, immigrated to America, bringing with them their folk practices, which became a holiday in America.
아일랜드의 감자 경작이 실패되었을 때, 켈트 족의 후예인 많은 아일랜드 사람들이 미국으로 이민왔는 데 이 때 그들이 그들의 민속 명절을 가지고 왔는 데, 이것이 미국의 한 명절이 되었다.
The Celtics that lived in what is now Great Britain would carry a lantern when they walked on the eve of October 31. These lanterns were carved out of big turnips and the lights were believed to keep the evil spirits away. Children would carve faces in the turnips. These carved turnips were called "jack-o-lanterns".
지금의 영국에 살고 있었던 켈트족들이 10월 31일 전야에 걸어 다닐 때 등불을 가지고 다녔다. 이 등불들은 큰 무로 조각되었고 그 불빛이 악령으로부터 지켜준다고 믿었다. 이렇게 조각된 무를 도깨비불이라고 불렀다.
Legends have it that the "jack-o-lantern" got its name from a stingy and mean old man, named Jack, who when he died was too mean to get into heaven. When Jack went to hell he was meet by the Devil who gave him a piece of burning coal and sent him away. Jack placed the burning coal in a turnip to use as a lantern to light his way. The legends say that Jack is still walking with the lantern looking for a place to stay.
전설에 의하면 "jack-o-lantern"이란 이름은 너무 야비해서 죽어서 천국에 가지 못한 Jack이란 이름을 가진 인색하고 야비한 노인으로부터 왔다고 한다. Jack이 지옥에 갔을 때, 그는 악마를 만났는데 그에게 타오르는 석탄 불을 하나 주고 그를 쫓아냈다. Jack은 그의 길을 밝히기 위해 등으로 사용하기 위해 무에 타오르는 석탄 불을 놓았다. 전설에 의하면 Jack은 아직도 머물 장소를 찾는라 그 등불을 가지고 걸어 다닌다고 한다.
Trick or Treat
The history of "Trick'O'Treating" can be traced back to the early celebrations of All Soul's Day in Britain. On that day, the poor would go begging and the housewives would give them special treats.
Trick'O'Treating"의 역사는 영국의 초기 만령절 행사로 거슬러 올라간다. 그 날, 가난한 사람들은 구걸을 하러 다니곤 했고, 가정 주부들이 그들에게 특별 음식을 주곤 했다.
Over time the custom changed and the town's children became the beggars. As they went from house to house they would be given apples, buns, and money. The children would shout "Trick or Treat!", then the housewives would give the children candy to keep from being tricked.
시간이 흐르면서 그 관습이 바뀌어 마을의 어린이들이 구걸하는 사람이 되었다. 그들이 이 집 저 집을 다니면 그들에게 사과나 건포도 롤빵이나 돈을 주곤 했다. 아이들은 "장난을 할까요? 아니면 먹을 것을 주실래요?"라고 소리치면, 가정 주부들은 아이들이 장난치지 않도록 사탕을 주곤 한다.
