얼마전, 사랑이가 수학·물리 관련 책을 읽고 있었습니다. 정말 마음에 드는 책이라 사 줄려고 하다 그냥 영문판으로 이 책 사줄까 했더니 사랑이가 좋다고 하길래 아마존 들어가서 사고 싶던 책과 그 책 관련 두 권 더 사게 되었습니다. 그렇게 아마존에 들어가 구매하고 있는 데, 에라곤 마지막 편인 이 "Inheritance"가 예약판매된다는 화면을 보고는 사랑이가 꼭 보고 싶다고 하길래 구매하게 되었습니다. 11월 10일이 발매일이라 12월 초 쯤 올 줄 알았는 데, 11월 16일 오후에 배달되더라구요. 사랑이가 판타지도 좋아하는 아인데, 해리포터랑 쌍벽을 이룰만큼 에라곤 시리즈를 좋아합니다. 16일부터 틈틈히 읽더니 다 읽었네요. 이제 나온 지 얼마 안 되었으니 한글로나 영어로나 책내용 좀 써 달라 부탁했더니 알았다며 후다닥 써내려갔습니다.

영어로 독후감 식으로 써 놓아서 제가 한글로 짧게 줄거리도 써 달랬더니 한글로 줄거리도 써 주었습니다. 발매된 지 며칠 안 되었으니 관심있는 아이들은 국내서점에서 구입할 수 있으실 겁니다.

<영어독후감>

Inheritance is the last of the Eragon series. In the first book, Eragon, an ordinary farm boy by the name of Eragon chances upon a oval-shaped blue stone while hunting in the spine.(Spine is the name of the place. Please do not relate it to the lone line of bones in the back.) After several nights, the STONE, hatches! A live dragon is rather hard to conceal, especially if it's bigger the a tree and when a dictator king would probably charge after you if he found out. So,with the help of Brom, who is a storyteller of Eragon's village, he travels to join the only human resistance to the empire, the Varden. On the way, Brom teaches him sword fighting and Magic. And so the story continues with much action, plots, secrets and magic. All the usual thing, but, what would you expect? It's a fantasy, for crying out loud!

Inheritance is a huge book of over 800pages. I can't explain the whole of it but I can assure you there are enough adventures to keep you entertained for more than one night. For those who are still curious, I'll tell you that the werecats advice proved trustwerdy both times and so, led to the dictator king, Galbatorixes, death, Eragon and Arya finaly understand each other but their paths divied and Roran and Katrina are, finally happy, they have a healthy child, a baby girl. You might despies me but, I won't give all the details. It would spoil the fun when you decide to read it. I guess you could call that a flaw in fantasies, it relies on unaccpected turn, as with a movie. But, as Joed might say, a thick enchanting fantasy is as good as any other book.

The best part of the Eragon series is that it contains the rich details most fantasies fail to accquire. It is unlike the ones where the writer flashes from one event to another, unable to prescribe each scene farther but trying not to show it. This young writer, Christopher Paolini, goes to describe almost everything, from the random fights, to peace treaties, the soft charming tongue of Galbatorix, feelings of the main characters with amazing persision. If your looking for a fantasy to entertain you for as long as possible (meaning that your looking for a thick, but not boring, book.), I'd really recommend this book. In fact I've grown so fond of it, I look back at the things I just wrote, and laugh at myself, 'I wrote as if I was the one who was in charge of selling this book!'. <한글줄거리>

이야기는 한 지역의 성 함락으로 시작된다. 에라곤의 형제 로란이 벽에 깔리는 위기를 가까스로 모면했다. 그리고 드래곤을 죽이는 목적으로 만들어졌고 아주 오래전에 드래곤을 많이 죽인 적 있는 창이 그 성에서 발견됬다. 또 엘프, 드워프, 사람, 오크의 군대에 예상치 못했던 새로운 아군을 얻었다. 하지만 아직 에라곤과 사피리아는 겔바토릭스에 대항할만한 힘이 없음을 안다. 웨어켓들에게 들은 퀴즈가 유일한 희망일 때 ......
