이책은 CTP Learn to Read math series 중 하나에요. 아이키우는 집에는 크레용은 다 있잖아요. 색깔 익히기도 좋고 한개,두개,,식으로 수를 세는데도 참 좋아요. 구하기도 쉽구요. Crayola는 분필만 있는 줄 알았는데 크레용도 있대요. 이책은 Crayola 크레용을 선명하게 사진으로 찍어 책내용을 잘 설명해주고 있어요. 책을 따라 읽으며 아이들이 내용을 파악하기도 쉽고 다 읽은 후 집에 있는 크레용으로 따라해보기도 하고 응용도 가능해요. 이책 들어가기전에 우선 주요개념을 아이들에게 간단히 설명해 주셔도 좋아요. 색깔,수, 그리고 대소 개념 말이에요. Wow! There are many crayons. They have many colors. This is red. Kyung-sub, Do you like red? Oh, that is is blue. It's your favorite color, isn't it? And here are orange and brown crayons, too. Will you pick up the orange crayons? ..You guessed right. Kyung-sub, can you count these crayons? Let's count them together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. We have ten crayons. Look at this, Kyung-sub. These are crayon packs. This is so big. That's small. Which one do you like? Mommy loves the smallest pack. Will you give it to me? ..Thank you. 그럼 책 내용을 한번 살펴볼께요. The Crayola Counting Book Open the box. (상자를 열어라) The crayons fall out. (크레용이 쏟아져 나오네) Counting crayons is what it's about. (크레용의 수는 이렇게 센단다.) Count the red crayons. (빨간색 크레용을 세어 보아라) Count the blue crayons. (파란색 크레용을 세어 보아라) Count by fives. (다섯개씩 세어 보아라) 다섯개를 한 묶음으로 세는 거에요. Count by twos. (두개씩 세어 보아라) Count the crayons in the smallest pack. (가장 작은 통에 들어있는 크레용을 세어 보아라) Now count the crayons in the biggest pack. (이제 가장 큰 통에 들어있는 크레용을 세어 보자) Count the orange crayons. (주황색 크레용을 세어 보아라) Count the brown crayons. (갈색 크레용을 세어 보아라) Count the ones that fell on the ground. (바닥에 떨어진 크레용을 세어 보아라) Count the crayons. (크레용을 세어보자) Count the tens. (10개를 세어보아라) Did you count one hundred? (100개를 세어 보았니?) Count them again. (다시 세어 보자) Crayons can be counted. (크레용은 수를 셀 수 있단다.) Counting is great. (수세기는 참 재밌어) But the best thing about crayons is the pictures you make! (하지만 크레용의 사진을 찍는 것이 최고지!) It's fun to draw and color, too. (크레용으로 그리고 색칠하는 것도 재밌어) Now let's see what you can do! (자 이제 네가 뭘 할 수 있는지 한번 볼까?) 해석이 좀 이상한 부분은 고쳐주세요.^^ 그리고 크레용을 상자안에 담았다가 쏟았다가 하는 동작을 반복하면서 put some crayons into the pack, crayons fall out 등의 문장을 인지시켜도 좋답니다. 두개씩 묶음으로 세어 보는 것도 위 문장을 읽어 주면서 가르치면 수도 세고 영어도 배우지요. 아주 간단한 놀이인데도 아이들은 참 재밌어하더라구요.
