2. Do you think it's okay to lie? Why does it matter?

1. People are embarrased because they know other people know their wrong doings. Whether the wrong doings were noticed or not, they want to distract the people from their wrong doings. Chatting about a different subject maked them relaxed by thinking they are distrated from their wrong doings.

2. I don't think it's okay to lie. People say that there are good lies and there are bad lies, but both of them means hiding the truth. And it matters because people deserve the truth, at least.

1. Talking diverts the attention of both the speaker and the listener to a different topic, so they both do not have to face an embarrassing situation until they are ready to talk about it. Additionally, talking usually makes the situation more comfortable, and makes the people feel more at ease with each other. Another factor is that Lise is a natural talker; she can talk straight on about just anything. Naturally, she feels less embarrassed when she is talking feverishly without end about certain subjects.

2. Generally, lying is not okay. But I believe that it can be tolerated in a few situations. Most times it is better to just tell people the truth, however sometimes people find themselves in difficult situations. For example, imagine that there was a general who led his troops into battle bravely, certain that they would win. Contrary to his beliefs, the enemies had an advantage and the general was shot by an arrow. If this general asked another soldier, with his last breath, if they had won the battle, the soldier would not want to break the sober news to the general. In this case, it would be okay to just lie and tell him that they won the battle. At least that would make his last seconds on Earth happy and content. These are the only situations in which lying is okay. Lying should definitely not be used for trickery or any sort of evil excuse.

1. Well, a lot of people changes the subject and chatters about something different when they feel embarrased about something like Lise did. For instance, when I feel embarrased, I often talk about something else to distract other people's and my attention to something else instead of the things I felt embarrased. Also, talking makes you feel relax, especially when you are used to talk to other people. If you don't talk or chat, then you will probably have to think about the moment you felt embrassed and it will be more hard to forget about it than do chating with your friends.

2. I think it's never okay to lie, whether it's white lie or not. Because...um, for example, if there is a person that will die in a year, than is it right to say, 'Don't worry. You'll be fine.' or is it better to say 'I'm very sorry to say like this, but you will die in one year.' I think the second one is more good to the person. Because if you say 'Don't worry. You'll be fine.' than the person who don't have much time to live won't be able to live his life a happy and remaining life. Let's take another exmaple. If someone is wearing a shirt that doesn't suit him or her well than what will you say to that someone? If I were in that situation I would probably say, "This shirt is good, but I think the other one will suit you more." because, if someone wears the shirt that doesn't suit him or her well, than people around him can make fun of that someone. So I think that we should not tell lies, whether it is white lie or not. Because honest is the best way to make friends and bring faith about you to other people.
