간단한 과학실험(26)- Make your coins sparkle! > 콘텐츠 공모전

간단하고 쉬운 실험이지만 아이들이 아주 좋아하더군요. 한 동안 동전을 많이 모아놓았었는데 다 쓰고도 또 달라고 그러더군요.역시 아주 간단합니다. 준비물: vinegar, dirty coins, cups, paper towels 과정: 1. 더러운 동전을 그릇에 넣는다. 2. 그 그릇에 식초를 충분히 넣었다가 5분 정도 기다린 뒤 동전을 꺼낸다. 3. 수건이나 화장지로 닦아본다. 수아,현웅, today, I’ll show another magic. Look at these coins .they are dirty. But I can make them clean without soap. choose one and wipe it with paper, does ti get cleaner? No. But try this. 1st .Put a coin in a cup. then Pour some vinegar into the cup. You should make sure the coin is completely covered. Wait about 5 minutes, let’s take the coin out of the vinegar , then rub it off with a paper towel. What does the coin look like now? Tell me what happened. It should be much brighter and cleaner. Do you know why? A new coin is partly made from bright, shiny copper. But after a while, it loses its shine. Because the copper mixes with the oxygen in the air and makes a coating called an oxide. When you put the coin in vinegar, the acid in the vinegar chemically removes the oxide, and you're left with a bright copper coin. 원리: 동전은 반짝이는 구리로 만들어져 있지요. 그렇지만 시간이 지나면서 공기중의 산소와 만나 산화물을 형성하면서 색이 바랩니다. 그런데 식초의 산이 산화물과 반응해서 동전을 깨끗하게 닦아주는 거지요. 뒷부분의 말들은 제가 그냥 욕심을 부렸습니다. 제 아이들이 알아듣지 못했을 거라고 확신합니다..~~ 이 실험을 하면서 찾아보았는데 주화의 소재로 10원화는 황동(구리 65%, 아연 35%), 50원화는 양백(구리 70%, 아연 18%, 니켈 12%), 100원화 및 500원화는 백동(구리 75%, 니켈 25%)을 소재로 제조되었습니다. 이 조성에서 알수 있듯이 100원,500원짜리가 구리의 함량이 많지요. 글래서 훨씬 더 깨끗해집니다.
