리듬이 쉽고 재미있어서 노래를 함께 불러주었더니 범수도 아주 좋아합니다. 엄마들 혹시 노래에 가려서 본문의 내용을 읽어주는 과정을 빠트리는 실수를 하고 있지는 않겠지요 ? 꼭 쉽게 풀어서 읽어주세요. 아이의 수준에 맞춰서 넣고 빼면서 표현을 잘 정리 해주어야 합니다. 책을 100%이용 하려면 구석구석 빠진 것 없이 설명을 해 주어서 아이 머리 속에 그림이 잘 그려지도록 해 주세요. 저는 가능한 한 처음부터 끝가지 빠짐없이 읽어주려고 하고있습니다. 무엇보다도 본문을 아주 잘 소화해 낸 후에 어떻게 활용을 할 것인가 생각하고 싶습니다.
Cover를 보면서 Look Bumsoo, there’s a monster in the tree and he says hello to you waving his hand. (monster 목소리로) “Hello Bumsoo!” Bumsoo, say “hello” to the monster. 아이와 함께,“Hello monster?” Are you scared of the monster? No, he is very cute and friendly.
1쪽) You are standing with your hands up. Wow, there are many monsters behind you in the bush. “Hello monsters, we like you very much.” Let’s count how many monsters are there. One, two, three, four, five, six. There are six monsters behind you. Let’s see what they are doing. Let’s go to the next page.
2쪽) A green monster is in the three. (남자목소리로) “Hello Bumsoo, come up here and play with me.”
3쪽) Now Bumsoo and the green monster are sitting on a branch. Look at the monster’s fingers. How many fingers does he have? Yes, he has four fingers. Bumsoo, how many fingers do you have? Let’s count your fingers.(손가락을 센다.) Yes, you have five fingers. The monster is counting up to three. Let's count up to three with mommy. 손가락으로 세면서 One, two, three.
4,5쪽) A red monster is at the door and she is knocking on the door. 문을 두드리는 흉내를 내면서, Knock, knock! Where is Bumsoo? (가리키며)Yes, you are here looking at the red monster through out the window. What is the monster doing? She is dancing on the floor.(엄마가 몸을 흔들면서 춤추듯이 움직입니다.).
6,7쪽) Where is the monster? He is in the hall. He is wearing a yellow shirt. Can you read the number on his shirt? (머리를 쓰다듬으며)What a clever boy you are! Yes, it is two. What is he doing? He is playing with a ball. 손으로 공을 던지고 받는 모션을 하면서, Throw the ball and catch it. Throw the ball and catch it.
8.9쪽) Where is the blue monster? He is in the kitchen. How do you know that he is in the kitchen? You can see a pan on the wall and a pot on the gas-stove. What else do you see? A chicken. What do you think they are doing? They are singing.
10,11쪽) A monster is in the pot and he is coming out from the pot. Why do you think he is coming out from the pot? Because he is getting very hot. (남자목소리로 급한 듯이) “Oh, the pot is very hot. I should get out of the pot.”하며 혀를 바깥으로 내밀며 헐떡거린다.
12,13쪽) Where is the green monster? She is in the bedroom. How do you know that she is in the bedroom? You can see a bed, a toy box and a dresser. She is sweeping the room with a red broom. Oh, the room is very dirty. (손가락으로 먼지를 짚으며) See the dust. Therefore she is cleaning the room.
14,15쪽) Wow, there are many monsters in the bed under the cover. 15쪽의 monster들을 가리키며 “Peek-a-boo!” They came out and say ‘good night” to you.
16쪽) Look, who is sleeping on the floor? It is Bumsoo! Hush monsters, Bumsoo is sleeping. Don’t make any noise.
그리고 범수와 함께 노래를 신나게 부르지요.

B. 책도 만들어요.
사진 보다 조금 큰 색 지에 아이의 사진을 양면 테이프로 살짝 붙여서 몇쪽의 책을 만들고 각 쪽의 밑부분에 아이가 어디에서 무엇을 하고있는지 써 넣으면 되지요. Bumsoo is in the living room and he is reading a picture book. Bumsoo is in the kitchen and he is drinking a glass of milk. Bumsoo is in the bathroom and he is taking a bath. 등등
다른 어떤 것 보다도 자신의 모습이라서 머리에 빨리 인식이 된다는 발상에서 해 보았습니다.
책을 읽어줄 때에도 이야기 속에 아이가 나오면 저는 “Here is Bumsoo.” 하며 줄거리 속의 한 사람으로 넣고 이야기 해 줍니다. 그러면 자신을 그 책 속의 아이와 동일시 시켜서 생각한다는 의도에서 입니다. 지금까지는 아주 효과가 좋습니다.
