Harry "The dirty dog" Eugene Zion 의 Harry시리즈는 우리 나라에도 위대한 탄생에서도 소개된 바 있고 여러 출판사에서도 번역되어 출간되고있다. 해리 시리즈는 4가지 색깔 검정,노랑,초록,흰색으로 그려진 매우 서정적인 영국풍의 이야기입니다. 이 귀여운 강아지 해리는 여러 가지 문제를 일으키기도 하지만 너무나 사랑스러운 캐릭터로 그려져 있다. 강아지는 아이들이 가장 갖고 싶어하는 동물이기도 해서 이 동화책을 접하는 내내 강아지를 키우게 해달라는 아이들의 요구를 무마시키기 힘들었지만 더러워진 해리가 자기임을 알리려고 가족들 앞에서 묘기를 부릴 때는 나도 한마리 키워 볼까 하는 생각이 들 정도 였다. 너무 귀여운 강아지 해리를 한마리씩 분양해 보시기를….. 강아지와 관련된 책들은 많이 나와서 하나씩은 가지고 있을 꺼 예요. Spot 이나 Snoopy 등등………하지만 해리를 읽어보시면 예전에 한번씩은 집에서 키워봤던 강아지에 대한 아련한 기억이 나실꺼예요. 번역된 한글판 책들이 있기는 하지만 제 나름대로 번역을 해보았으니 여러분도 그냥 참고만 하세요. Soon he jumped away from the hole barking short, happy barks. 해리는 포기하고 문쪽으로 걸어가다가 갑자기 섰어요. 그리고는 정원구석으로 가서는 갑자기 땅을 파기 시작했죠. 잠시 후, 즐겁게 멍멍 짖기 시작했어요. His family combed and brushed him lovingly, and he became once again a white dog with black spots. 해리의 목욕은 그가 해본 목욕중에서 가장 비누칠을 많이한 목욕이었어요. 마술과 같았죠. 목욕솔로 해리를 닦자 마자 아이들이 소리 쳤어요. 엄마 아빠 빨리 와 보세요! 해리에요! 해리! 하고 소리쳤어요. 가족들이 해리를 빗질하자 해리는 다시 하얀털에 까만 점이 박힌 강아지로 돌아간거에요. Wow! It’s great magic! At last, they find their lovely dog. All of families feel so happy. It was wonderful to be home. After dinner, Harry fell asleep in his favourite place, happily dreaming of how much fun it had been getting dirty. He slept so soundly, He didn’t even feel the scrubbing brush he’d hidden under his pillow. 집으로 돌아오니 너무 행복했어요. 저녁식사 후 해리는 즐거웠던 하루의 꿈을 꾸며 잠자리에 들었어요. 아주 깊게 잠들었죠. 목욕 솔을 베게 밑에 숨겼다는 것도 느끼지 못할 정도로 깊이 말이에요.
