"Coco Can't Wait!" 이 책을 접하면서 처음 알게 된 일본인 작가 "타로고미". 단순 명료한 그림, 함축적 의미를 포함하고 있는 간결한 문장이 특징인 이야기들 하나하나가 어찌나 예쁜지 전 개인적으로 이 작가를 참 좋아한답니다. 이 글에 나오는 귀여운 코코와 할머니의 이야기는 할머니를 그리워 하는 방글이와 방글이의 열렬한 팬인 외할머니를 생각나게 하네요. 그럼 부족하지만 저와 함께 이야기 속으로 들어가 보실까요? Look at the cover. A girl is smiling. The girl's name is Coco. What's your name?...My name is 윤정연." This is Coco's grandma. She is wearing giasses. They look happy. How about you? ..... I'm happy. (함께 신나게 노래를 부릅니다.---I'm so happy. I'm so happy. I'm so happy. Happy all the time.) Now, Let's read the book. What's the title of this book? This book is "Coco Can't Wait!" 첫장엔 코코와 할머니의 집이 나옵니다. 방글이는 문장을 다 이해하지는 못하지만 지붕의 색깔을 알아 듣고 집을 찾는 것 같더군요. Can you find Coco's house?.....Good! Coco's house has a purple roof. The house is by the tree. The Grandma's house has an orange roof. 코코가 할머니를 무척 보고싶어 하네요. 사진을 보니까 할머니가 더 그리워 지나봐요. A picture is hanging on the wall. You can see grandma and Coco in the picture. 코코가 엄마와 인사를 하고 어디론가 뛰어가네요. Where is Coco going? Mabye Coco goes to see Grandma with a flower. 할머니가 사과나무 아래에서 웃고 계시네요. Grandma is holding apples. Maybe Grandma is thinking of Coco. Coco takes the bus. Grandma takes the train. I wonder if they meet. 서로 길이 엇갈린 것을 안 엄마와 할아버지가 안타까워하네요. How can they meet? 이번엔 할머니는 택시를 코코는 트럭을 타고 가네요. The taxi is running. The truck is running. Look. A cow is licking Coco's face. I wonder if they meet. But they just miss each other. 또 엇갈린 두 사람. 코코가 이야기 하네요. "I can't wait any longer." Coco rides a kick scooter. Grandma takes a motorcycle. They want to see each other very much. 서로를 그리워하면서 하는 말.------"oh, how I want to see Grandma .(Coco)" They look busy. Maybe this time they will meet? 코코와 할머니가 함박 웃음을 지으며 달려오네요. 타고 온 퀵보드와 오토바이는 ...쿵쿵쿵... Finally they meet. Wow, They look very happy. Do you want to see Grandma, too? I want to see My Mother, too. 오늘따라 유난히 고향이 멀게 느껴지네요..
