Marc Brown의 아서시리즈는 현재 tv에서 방영되고 있어 아이들에겐 아주 친숙한 캐릭터입니다.초등3학년인 아서를 중심으로 아서에게 늘 말썽장이로 통하는 동생D.W와 가족들 그리고 아서에게 사회라 할수 있는 학교와 친구들 .이들과의 상호 작용을 통하여 아이들의 인성과 사회성을 기를수 있는 책이라 할수 있습니다..특히 아이들에게 다른나라에 대한 상이한 생활 습관과 문화를 자연스럽게 익힐수 있는 책인듯 합니다. 그중 kiss hello, kiss goodbye 는 인간미가 물씬하면서 따뜻한 가족애를 느낄수 있는책이라 개인적으로 아끼는 책입니다.첫표지에 아이들이 엄마에게 뽀뽀를 하는 장면으로 시작하여 미국에서 아주 기본적인 인사법으로 통하는 hello와 goodbye가 어떤 상황에서 어떻게 적절하게 표현되고 있는지를 잘 알려줍니다. flap book이어서 아이와 묻고 답하며 또 펼쳐가며 놀이로 자연스럽게 인사법과 내용을 즐길수 있습니다.그리고 주인공 Arthur 와 D.W가 손가락 종이인형으로 있어 여기저기 아이랑 책속에 끼워가며 role play도 해가며 다양하게 활용할수 있는 책입니다.
