Firefighting 요즘같이 건조한 겨울날 소방서들은 비상이겠죠? 우리아이들에게 조그마한 부주의로 인명과 재산을 모두 앗아갈 수도 있는 화재에 대한 경각심을 일깨워 줄 때 에요. 이 책을 통해 아이들이 소방관으로서의 간접체험을 할 수 있도록 도와주셔도 좋겠네요. 사이렌이 울리는 소방차에 올라타고, 소방관을 도와 아이, 어른, 동물들을 구조해봐요. 도시에서 헬리콥터가 어떻게 화재를 진압하는지 보고 비행기가 산림화재에 물을 뿌리는 것도 지켜봐요. 소방장비, 불의 기원, 화재 진압을 위한 특수차량 및 의복, 공구 , 보호복의 종류와 상황별 화재 진압, 소방관들의 다른 주된 임무 등을 알아봐요. 화재 발생! 소방관들은 항상 긴급상황에 대처할 준비가 되어 있습니다. 소방관들이 급히 소방차로 향합니다. *** firefighter 는 fireman이라고도 함. they 는 firefighter를 가리킴. fire-engine - 미국에서는 firetruck을 많이 사용. Only the clothing styles and colors change from country to country or town to town. Special uniforms protect firefighters in many different situations. Station uniforms/ For very hot fires/ For fuel fires/ For emergency medical care/ For chemical fires/ For nuclear contamination/ For water emergencies/ Firefighters wear this suit around hazardous materials. Don''t ever play with matches!. Fire spreads very quickly and can hurt people and destroy their homes. To report a fire, dial 911. If the firefighters arrive soon enough, they can save lives and property. To fight forest fires, special planes collect large amounts of water from lakes... and then release the water over the fire. Fireboats use seawater to put out fires on ships. Special helicopters can carry water and firefighters to a high-rise fire. Water doesn''t work on gas or oil fires. A special foam is sprayed on those fires put them out. We are lucky to have firefighters to help in different emergencies. They need to be strong and athletic. They use the Jaws of Life to cut people out of cars. They give medical help to accident victims. In floods, they find people and rescue them from drowning. Their tall ladders can be used to save animals that are trapped in high places. They use dogs to help discover how a fire began.
