Before I begin my book report, I would like to apologize for the delay. At first, I didn't know how to start the report because "Pride and Prejudice" was such a complicated and well-developed book. I do hope that this one will be in your favor.

"Pride and Prejudice" is a novel loved widely around the world, written by Jane Austen. It unravels the relationship between the two primary characters Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in a mysterious manner that makes the reader keep reading the book, unable to stop. The novel is also closely united with its background, featuring eighteenth-century England. Full of love and unexpected happenings, "Pride and Prejudice" is one of the greatest novels ever written.

In England lives the Bennets with five daughters; Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. Their mother is obssessed with finding a good husband for her daughters, driven especially by the worry that they will have nothing once her husband dies and live in poverty. Naturally, she gets excited when she hears of Mr. Bingley, a good tempered and rich gentleman, renting a mansion near their house named Netherfield, and that his sister and friend Mr. Darcy is coming with him. Everything seemed to go well at first; Mr. Bingley and Jane were definitely in love with each other. Only Mr. Darcy gave an unpleasant expression, overcome with pride, as it seemed. However, the trio suddenly leave Netherfield unexpectedly, bound for London. Jane goes to London to stay with their relatives in order to relieve her shock, and Elizabeth visits her friend Charlotte Lucas, who had married her cousin Mr. Collins, a man who had first proposed to her but had been refused. She encounters the great Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and is surprised to learn that Mr. Darcy is her nephew.

Another surprising incident occurs when Mr. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth Bennet. Before this, Elizabeth had had two experiences which made her form a direct prejudice against Mr. Darcy. The first was received from Mr. Wickham, an officer in the local regiment, who claimed Mr. Darcy did not give him what was rightfully his. The second came from Colonel Fitzwilliam, who had heard that Mr. Darcy had broken up the relationship between Mr. Bingley and Jane, forcing them to be apart from each other. Elizabeth was strongly affected by their words, and, of course, rejected Mr. Darcy. Afterwards, she received a letter from Mr. Darcy, which told her the truth behind the words of wicked Mr. Wickham and that he had not known that Mr. Bingley and Jane loved each other so much, causing Elizabeth to feel terrible about her mistake that she had not seen who Mr. Darcy really was because she had been too firmly wrapped up in her own beliefs and prejudices.

Elizabeth then embarks on another journey, this time accompanied by her aunt and uncle. As a clash of fate, she encounters Mr. Darcy once again at his large mansion. However, news comes from home that the youngest of the Bennets, Lydia, had run away with Mr. WIckham, causing Elizabeth to blame herself even more for not preventing it. She returns to home and the whole family grieves that they have not the slightest chance that the couple will be found. Thus, they greatly rejoice when Lydia and Mr. Wickham are found and married. Elizabeth learns later on that Mr. Darcy had played a great role in the search, for he had been the one who had found them in the first place.

In the end, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy return to Netherfield once again. Mr. Bingley proposes to Jane, apologizing for all the suffering Jane had gone through, and Jane gladly accepts the proposal. Another engagement is made when Mr. Darcy, in turn, proposes to Elizabeth the second time. Through their reunion, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy learn a lesson; that they should not be hindered in their decisions because of pride and prejudice, and are thankful that their reconciliation turned out well in the end.

I strongly believe that all of us should learn the lesson Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy learned through their relationship. Pride and prejudice are the two main factors which keep people from making the right decision. Some people do not wish to accept some certain facts, in belief that accepting it will crush all of their pride and self-esteem, and thus come to the wrong conclusion. Additionally, when people have a prejudice about something or someone, they become blind to the truth and become unable to think outside their small circle of thinking. Letting go of these two faults will enable people to come to the right decision, and in turn, become truly happy. Perhaps this is the moral Jane Austen had in mind when she wrote this novel.

There is another point worthy of thinking in this novel. Mrs. Bennet wanted Elizabeth to be engaged and married to Mr. Collins because she wanted his money. Her main consideration in judging a person was his or her wealth. However, Elizabeth refused his proposal. This is because she believed Mr. Collins and she had never been meant for each other. On the other hand, at the end of the book, she accepts Mr. Darcy; not because of his great wealth, but because of who he really was. Regardless of all of his other things, she genuinely liked him and thought she would always be happy with that man. The factor Elizabeth took into main consideration when judging a person was his or her personality. In the end, Elizabeth was very content and happy. By this, Jane Austen implies that when judging a person, people should not be affected by that person's wealth or background, but only see the person's real self, and decide whether he or she is fit for themselves.

"Pride and Prejudice" is unmistakably the one of the most complex, developed and pleasant books ever written. In recommending this book to anyone who wishes to learn a life lesson, I now disclose any further thoughts about the book by ending the report.

Pride and Prejudice

Even when I haven't read the book, I have heard of its name several times and I often saw the title in my school's library, so I knew that this book was very famous. Then my sister read 'Pride and prejudice' and said it was a brilliant story. She talked about 'Mr. Dracy' all day and all night. So I became really interested in this book and when it was choosen as the book club mission book, I eagerly read out the book from page to page.

This book was about a love story which was began from pride and prejudice. The main characters are Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Dracy, Jane Bennet and Mr. Bingley. At first, I really hated Mr. Drazy because of his attitude! I mean, he was very rude at first. But some may say 'Don't judge a book by its cover.' And I became really angry at Mr. Dracy when Mr. Wickham told about his 'fake' childhood story and how Mr. Dracy is greedy, how he stoled his money... And I was really surprised when Mr. Dracy did a propose to Elizabeth. Because I didn't have the faintest idea that Mr. Dracy loved Elizabeth. Also, when I learned out that Mr. Dracy was actually not a bad guy, then I thought that Elizabeth was very hard and rude to him. And then, just like my sister(haha) I really started to like Mr. Dracy. Because he has a quite good personality, well not at first, but as Elizabeth became to know Mr. Dracy, better, she knows that he's very nice, and he is rich too, not to mention his handsome face.^^Though he can't escaped the fact that he spilt aprt Jane and Bingley's relationship. But there was a reason for this. Because first of all, as he said, Jane didn't show her feeling well to Mr. Dracy and second, the Bennet's families are...unique. Like Lydia, Mrs. Bennet and Kitty all act like child! They plays around and talks loudly and talks about some facts that they shouldn't tell in front of all the people! Mary is a bit unique, too. I thought she was kind and gentle but how she acted during the dance, how she played the song twice wasn't that good. But as I read 'Pride and Prejudice', I laughed and laughed because of the Bennets. There are quite weird family, I think.

I really loved the ending. Jane and Mr. Bingley got back together! Oh my gosh, when I heard that Jane and Mr. Bingley kinda broke up, I became really sad and thought 'They are not going to end up together' and they end up together, so I was really happy. And I think Elizabeth and Mr. Dracy is such a cute couple. I simply loved Mr. Dracy.

What I learned from this book is that, you can't judge a person by the first impression. Like when someone acts kind to you, we often thinks that he or she is a kind person, but he or she could be a bad person or a kind person. And, I bit felt like I was in Josheon Dynasty while I read this book. Because Mrs. Bennet always talks about marrying a rich man! I couldn't understand her. Because marrying a people is a serious matter and you should marry someone who you really love. Yeah, of course having a lots of money can attract people but I think that everyone should marry a person whom they really like and love and can care for each other. So I learned these two facts from Pride and Prejudice. After I read this book, all I start thinking about was 'I want to read it again. Or maybe, I should try other Jane Austen's book. She is such an great writer! Even greater than J. K. Rolling!(Because I'm a great fan of Harry Potter)' When I first saw the title, I thought this was a very boring book, but now, it is one of my top 3 books. (Well, if you wanna know, my top 3 books are Harry Potter, Eragon and Pride and Prejudice.) I cannot forget this book and I really liked the story and the character both.

Pride and prejudice

The setting of the book is England, when women could not have jobs and marrying was a very important part of their life, more than it is to women today, because they stayed at home and took care of children all day. When Mr. Bingley, a wealthy gentlemen, moved near the Bennets', Mrs Bennet wanted one of her daughters to marry Mr. Bingley, because he is nice and rich. So she told her daughers to visit Mr. Bingley at once. Jane got on with Mr. Bingley well with her good-hearted and kind attitude. Mr. Darcy, his friend was very rude. He thought everyone was not as good as himself. So Elizabeth hated him. She also thought he was very arrogant. But later, I think she changed her mind. They liked each other. I first thought Mr. Darcy was a selfish man, but now I think he was very kind, looking at the way he said to Elizabeth. It was interesting that the people in one family could all have such different characteristics.(I'm talking about the Bennets.) It seems things happened a lot faster in the back part of the book than in the front and middle. I liked the way Mr. Darcy's characteristics were not what it seemed like when he first met Elizabeth. I recomend this book to people that judge others by their covers.

Pride & Prejudice

It all starts at England of the late eighteenth century. At the heart of England there lived the Bennet family, assembled by Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and the five Bennet sisters. Their mother, Mrs. Bennet, thought it was their duty to marry a decent husband. And that¡¯s why it all began.

When a wealthy gentleman arrived in town, the Bennet family was very excited. The gentlemen, Mr. Bingley, have arrived with some of his sophisticated friends. So Mrs. Bennet thought it was the sister¡¯s chance to get a husband, and the first chance was the ball at his place. There the eldest, Jane, meets up with Mr. Bingley, and while the two of them got along well, the second eldest, Elizabeth, approaches Mr. Darcy. But he did not obliged to dance with her, and later on Elizabeth overheard him saying to Mr. Bingley that she is not enough to tempt her. Here Elizabeth starts to have a prejudice that Darcy was a bit arrogant.

As the time went on, Elizabeth started to like, and dislike Darcy, and while she wondered about Darcy, Jane married Mr. Bingley, and Lydia married Mr. Wickham, with some hidden agreement. Darcy and Elizabeth continued their fight, both not realizing that they secretly loved each other. Its cause was their high pride and their prejudice about each other. But as they understood and becomes close to each other, they know that the only wall between them was their pride, that they have be too ignorant of their true feelings. In the end, they take off their pride and let their mind realize their feelings.

All of this happened because of their prejudices, always ignoring their love and values. It gives us the scheme in the eighteen century, while it also gives us an advice; Don¡¯t let your prejudice overcome you.

<Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen>-Society for money or money for society?

Many people appear in this story. Elizabeth, Kitty, BIngley are just a few of them. As there are many characters they all have different characteristics as well. But I think this book is not just about love stories between people. When mother of daughters here about Mr.Bingley coming to Netherfield she tried to make one of their daughters married with him. Why does she want to do this. Also, why did Lydia(I can't actually remember her name right) married Mr.wichkam and what was the reason that her mother forced her to. These are the problems that we ourselves need to think about as well. I questioned to myself Is money for the well an good society or is society for money and to earn those. Many people, acutally all of people are influenced to money and each and every one of them forced their families or siblings to be rich. By reading this story I hoped that the senses of human change and pursue love and friendship more than money.
