1. to spend the summer at McBrides' camp in the Adirondacks
If Judy accepts Mrs. McBrides' invitation, Daddy can't meet her.
There aren't any girls our age at the camp, and Mrs. McBride wants Judy for a companion for Sallie.
2. He runs errands for them in town, at five cents an errand. Also he tells them what is happening in the great world.
3. Six short stories and seven poems.
Judy sent to the magazines all came back with the most courteous promptitude. Jervie read them and he said they were dreadful. But the last one she did he said wasn't bad; and he had it written, and she sent it to a magazine. So her story is accepted. $50.
4. He's harping on that she'd accepted scholarship.
She shall owe her education to him just as much as though she let him pay for the whole of it, but she won't be quite so much indebted. She knows that he doesn't want her to return the money, but nevertheless, she is going to want to do it, if she possibly can.
5. Julia Pendleton
Judy should very much prefer going to Sallie's, but Julia asked her first, she is rather awed at the prospect of meeting Pendletons.
